Coronavirus: Forsyth County Libraries Closed Until Further Notice

Patrons who have materials checked out can keep those items at home until Forsyth County libraries open again.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Officials at Forsyth County Public Library announced Wednesday that all locations will be closed until further notice.

"Considering advice and directives from health organizations, local leaders, and state officials, our branches will be closed until further notice for the safety of the public, our patrons, and our staff," said Library Director Anna Lyle.

Patrons who currently have materials checked out should continue to keep those items at home.

"It's important to remember that the library isn't limited to its buildings," Lyle said. "We have a robust selection of online books, magazines, and resources to occupy readers of all ages."

Library patrons can access newspapers, market analysis, health resources, academic research, and live tutoring by logging into the library's website at www.forsythpl.org.

All online services provided by the library are free to cardholders.

"We really miss having our patrons in the library," Lyle said. "We want everyone to know that we have staff working remotely or on staggered shifts for social distancing. We're responding to messages sent via our Ask a Librarian service and via social media."

Forsyth County residents who wish to register for a library card may do so online and get immediate access to the library's online services.

GA Coronavirus: Nearly 400 Hospitalized, 40 Deaths, 1200+ Cases

New numbers announced Wednesday afternoon show that nearly 400 Georgians are hospitalized, 40 have died, and 1,247 have been infected with coronavirus, the Georgia Department of Public Health said.

Fulton County has the most cases in the state with 198, followed by DeKalb with 116, Dougherty with 109, Cobb with 101, Bartow with 78, Gwinnett with 48, Cherokee with 31, Carroll with 27, Lee with 25, Clayton with 22, Clarke and Hall with 19 each, Douglas with 17, Floyd with 14, Fayette and Henry with 12 each, Lowndes with 11, and Coweta and Richmond with 10 each.

Globally, more than 438,000 people have been infected and more than 19,000 people have died from the new coronavirus, Johns Hopkins reported Wednesday morning. Of that total, more than 55,000 confirmed cases were in the United States, with more than 800 U.S. deaths tied to the virus outbreak.
