County Sets Dates For Southeast Forsyth Design Community Workshop

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Dates and times have been announced for a series of Southeast Forsyth Design Initiative Community Character Workshop intended to help shape the community’s identity. During these facilitated gatherings, attendees will be invited to provide input on a variety of topics that will impact the southeastern Forsyth County community.

The approximate boundaries for this area are Ga. 400 to the west, McGinnis Ferry Road to the south and north of Hwy. 20 on the northern boundary.

This will include a logo and tagline, as well as other marketing recommendations to help identify the area. These recommendations will help support a brand style as part of a larger placemaking initiative currently underway that will also incorporate commercial design standards as an additional element of the project.

The workshop will be held at the Sharon Springs Park Community Building (1950 Sharon Rd.).

Specific times and formats are:

Sept. 16:

Focus Groups – This opportunity will offer a group immersion experience for participants to discuss ideas and innovative ways to address community branding and commercial corridor design; RSVP requested, but not required (To RSVP, email Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman at VDBernstein@forsythco.com).

1 – 3 p.m.: Neighborhood participation

3 – 5 p.m.: Business community participation

Open House (5 – 7:30 p.m.) This opportunity will include sharing of themes arising from the focus group discussions. There will also be a forum for participants to ask questions and offer feedback on the branding initiative as well as the commercial corridor design (design exercises, questionnaire and informal discussions).

Sept. 17:

Drop-in (9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) This opportunity will include one-on-one discussions and a forum for participants to ask questions and offer feedback.

Open House (5 – 7:30 p.m.) This opportunity will include sharing of themes arising from the Sept. 16 workshop feedback. There will also be a forum for participants to ask questions and offer feedback on the branding initiative as well as the commercial corridor design (design exercises, questionnaire and informal discussions).

Sept. 18:

Drop-in (9 a.m.– 1 p.m.) This opportunity will include one-on-one discussions and a forum for participants to ask questions and offer feedback

Open House (4 – 7:30 p.m.) This meeting will offer a presentation of a draft community graphic identity as refined through the workshop process as well as visual examples and potential standards for commercial corridor design. The presentation will summarize workshop feedback and will include continued discussion of key themes that emerged during the engagement process
