CUMMING, GA -- Commuters had an odd encounter around 6 p.m. on March 25 when the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said a cow was loose on Ga. 400 south of Peachtree Parkway.

The WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported the sheriff’s office surrounded the cow near Ga. 141. Sheriff’s office spokesman Doug Rainwater told AJC.com that nearly two hours later, the cow had been removed from Ga. 400.

The AJC reported that over a 5-month period last year, there were three similar instances of cows blocking metro Atlanta interstates. In May, 10 cows were killed after a tractor-trailer with 19 cows onboard overturned on I-75 in Cobb County. Then in June, a tractor-trailer crashed on the ramp from I-285 South to I-20 East, killing three cows. In October, another tractor-trailer overturned on I-285, causing 11 cows to die.
