Cherry Street is located in Cumming's Vickery Village, in partnership with Rick Tanner's Grille & Bar. It was founded as a homebrew operation in Colorado in 2010, before Georgia native Nick Tanner made the move back to his home state.

The cooperative's name comes from the street in Fort Collins, Colorado, where the homebrew club from which the brewery sprang would meet.

"Coming up with crazy off the wall recipes and experimenting with unusual ingredients and wild yeast, Cherry Street always has something fresh and exciting to enjoy," the co-op says on its website.

"Initially starting as a homebrew club, we established our identity as applying cooperative ideals to everyday life. These ideals focus on education, community, and sustainability. We are here for the community just as the community is here for us."

Black Tooth Brewing, from Sheridan, Wyoming, placed second at the competition and Lynnwood Brewing Concern, out of Raleigh, North Carolina, finished third.
