Cumming Civitan Club Donates to Forsyth County Schools' Special Education Department

The club donated $4,000 to benefit autism classes and extended summer school programs for special students.

From Forsyth County Schools

Throughout the past several months, the Forsyth County Schools’ Special Education department received two donations from the Cumming Civitan Club.

The first was for $1,500 and was used for one of the autism classes at the Almon C. Hill Center. Items purchased with this donation for the students in that class included a platform swing, bean bag chairs, paint, laminating paper, a futon for the living area for daily living skills, and supplemental instruction materials.

Also for the past two years, the Civitan Club has supported the Extended Summer School program for students with disabilities. With the donation of $2,500, the program was able to purchase school instructional supplies and snacks for the students.

“The support we have received from Civitan over the past few years has provided a wealth of materials that have lead to new opportunities for our students. The special education teachers are genuinely appreciative of all the support given by the Cumming Civitan Club,” said Sarah Taylor, Director of Special Education
