Cumming Election 2019: Voting Hours, Polls, Sample Ballot

CUMMING, GA — Election Day is Tuesday in Cumming, and voters will cast their ballots in the 2019 municipal election.

The Cumming City Council election will take place Tuesday, Nov. 5. The election is for the council seats of Post 3, Post 4, and Post 5. Additionally, a citywide Special Election has been called regarding extending the hours for Sunday sales of alcohol by the drink.

Only voters who reside in the city limits of Cumming who are registered to vote by the Oct. 7 voter registration deadline are eligible to vote in the elections. The City of Cumming is in the center of Forsyth County and includes approximately 3,400 registered voters. In the City of Cumming Municipal General Election, the election is decided by a plurality of the votes cast (whichever candidate in each race receives the most votes is the winner).

When To Vote:

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 5. If you are 75 years of age or older or have a disability and you show up at the polling place between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., you will not be required to wait in line. Such voters should tell a poll officer if he or she wants to move to the front of the line.

Where To Vote:

On Election Day, Cumming City Hall located at 100 Main Street, Cumming, 30040, will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voting. All other Forsyth County Election Day polling places will not be open for voting as there are no countywide elections scheduled for this day.

Acceptable Identification:

Georgia Voters are required to show one of six forms of valid photo identification when voting in person, during the absentee or advanced voting period or at the polls on Election Day. The valid forms of identification are as follows:

  • A Georgia driver's license (even if expired)
  • A valid State or federal government photo ID
  • A valid U.S. passport
  • A valid government employee photo ID (city, county, state or U.S. government)
  • A valid U.S. military photo ID
  • A valid Tribal photo ID

Special Election Question:

In addition to voting for candidates, residents will have their say on a special election question: "Shall the governing authority of the City of Cumming, Georgia be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.?
