Cumming Election 2016: Polls Closed
Forsyth County voters cast ballots for president, U.S. Senate, state constitutional amendments and more.

CUMMING, GA — Election Day polls in Forsyth County closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with Georgia's 16 electoral votes hanging in the balance of a closer-than-usual presidential tilt in the state.
The most high-profile vote on the ballot, of course, was the presidential election featuring the matchup between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.

Georgians also were voting for a U.S. senator, in several U.S. House races and on four proposed constitutional amendments.

In Forsyth County, voters were asked to decide on a one-percent, local option sales tax for education. It would continue a sales tax already in effect in the county, and would raise roughly $35.5 million for buying land to build new schools, building those schools and upgrading facilities on existing campuses.

There also was a countywide vote on a property-tax homestead exemption for senior citizens.
