Cumming's Cracker Barrel Soon to be Reality
Peg Games, front porch rocking chairs and moon pies will soon be available in Cumming with the expected opening this spring of Cracker Barrel.
Due to open Spring 2012, the Cumming Cracker Barrel will be located at 302 Tri-County Plaza, formerly the site of Mrs. Winners and PR’s BBQ. The store will be located on approximately two acres of land at the intersection of Georgia 400 and Highway 20.
PR’s BBQ and Mrs. Winner's Chicken & Biscuits, formerly at the same location, have been razed and construction began Sept. 19 of this year for the 8,960-square foot Cracker Barrel. Ironically the original store opened Sept. 19, 1969 near Lebanon, Tennessee. under the ownership of Dan Evins and his friend Tommy Lowe, a contractor.
Construction for the Cumming operation had been originally planned to begin in Oct., but because the site is already zoned correctly, approval from the county commission was not needed. Site plans were submitted in April of this year.
