Forsyth Sheriff Ron Freeman posted a statement on Facebook:

Some criminal cases seem more horrendous than others, this is one of those cases. After receiving a final medical examiner's report, FCSO issued an arrest warrant for murder for Amalia Ramirez, inexplicably the daughter of the victim. FCSO fugitive units spent several days attempting to locate Ramirez both within Forsyth County and abroad. We enlisted the help of the metro-fugitive squad where we have a deputy sheriff assigned and entered the suspect and her vehicle's information into the state database as a wanted person.

The Chamblee Police Department received an alert from their automated license plate reader systems that Ramirez's vehicle had been seen travelling in their city and immediately responded units to locate the wanted vehicle. They ultimately took Ramirez into custody without incident. Kudos to the Chamblee Police Department for helping us bring this suspect into custody. The case is now in the hands of the Forsyth County District Attorney's Office for review and prosecution.
