Doctor Joins Atlanta Cancer Care In Cumming, Canton
Dr. Sanjay Vin (Vinjamaram) is a board-certified physician in hematology and medical oncology, with more than 10 years of experience.
CUMMING/CANTON, GA — Atlanta Cancer Care has welcomed Dr. Sanjay Vin (Vinjamaram) to its Canton and Cumming offices.
Vin is a board-certified physician in hematology and medical oncology, with more than 10 years of experience treating cancer patients. He specializes in breast cancer, lung cancer, genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancers. His accomplishments include receiving a Fellow Grant for the International Society for Gastrointestinal Oncology and the Mayo Clinic Fellow Award. He has been a principal investigator for various clinical trials and has published multiple peer-reviewed articles.
“I believe in treating the patient as a whole and not just treating the disease,” Dr.Vin said. “With every patient, I have the privilege to embark on a new journey with them and to guide them through the disease process, making sure they understand the treatment options and goals."

Feb. 13: Northside Hospital Gwinnett Heart Health Faire Day (Lawrenceville)
Northside Hospital Gwinnett is offering a free screening to determine risk for heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) disease. Check your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and risk of sleep apnea; learn tips about heart-healthy living from our various partners. The event take place Thursday, Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northside Hospital Gwinnett Private Dining Room, located at 1000 Medical Center Blvd, in Lawrenceville. Feb. 20: Northside Hospital prostate screening (Cumming)
Northside Hospital Cancer Institute is offering a community prostate cancer screening, at no cost, to measure men’s risk for developing the disease. It will take place Thursday, Feb. 20 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute Radiation Oncology – Forsyth, located on the Northside Hospital Forsyth campus at 1100 Northside Forsyth Drive, Suite 140, in Cumming. Prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood tests will be available to men between 45 and 75, who have never had prostate cancer or a PSA blood test in the last 12 months, are eligible to participate in the screening. Qualified interpreters will be available free of charge, with advanced requests. Pre-registration is required. March 1: Strollin’ 4 the Colon (Lawrenceville)
Northside Hospital and Sugarloaf Mills invite you to join Strollin’ 4 the Colon, a 5K Walk/Run for colorectal cancer awareness, benefitting cancer patients at Northside Hospital Gwinnett. The event will take place Saturday, March 1 on the property of Sugarloaf Mills Mall, 5900 Sugarloaf Pkwy, in Lawrenceville. Registration begins at 7 a.m., followed by a survivor celebration at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K at 8 a.m. Join us for a fun morning of music, door prizes, awards, snacks and of course a little exercise. Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female and Masters male and female finishers. Age group awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age category. March 3: Built to Quit (Atlanta, Canton and Cumming)
Northside Hospital Cancer Institute will host a six-week Built to Quit course, offering the American Lung Association Freedom From Smoking® program to help participants learn the hazards of smoking and using tobacco products, the benefits of quitting, and strategies and skills to cope with urges. The course is led by a certified facilitator and includes behavioral therapists, nutritionists and respiratory therapists who will provide support and guidance. Participants receive nicotine replacement therapy (if qualified) and a hard copy curriculum with a meditation CD. Classes are conducted primarily in a group setting, with face-to-face interaction that allows participants to learn from each other’s experiences. Afternoon classes are available at Northside Hospital campuses in Atlanta, Canton and Cumming, with evening classes also available in Atlanta and Cumming. Lunch or dinner is provided. March 7: Sports Medicine For All conference (Alpharetta)
The Sports Medicine for All conference is a comprehensive program that strives to bridge the gap between science and practice, presenting practical strategies to improve interventions and optimize patient care of athletes and active people of all ages and skill levels. Topics will include overuse vs. exercise deficiencies, new treatment interventions and return to sport initiatives, unique risk factors and injuries of the weekend warrior, evidence-based concussion protocols, identifying cardiovascular risks with strenuous strength training and conditioning, orthobiologics indications and outcomes, and the role of performance nutrition. The Northside Hospital Cancer Institute is offering a community skin cancer screening, at no cost, to emphasize the importance of skin safety. It will take place Thursday, March 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute Radiation Oncology – Forsyth, located on the Northside Hospital Forsyth campus at 1100 Northside Forsyth Drive, Suite 140, in Cumming. Medical professionals will provide a brief skin assessment in a private setting. You must be 18 or older to participate.
