Dog Jog 5K Saturday in Cumming

Proceeds from the event go to the Humane Society of Forysth County.

Forsyth County runners and their furry friends can take on a 5K course together during the upcoming Dog Jog 5K on Sept. 27 at the Cumming Petco.

Registration for the event costs $25 in advance and $30 the day of the race. Dogs can join their masters on the run, but must be leashed. Runners with dogs should also make sure their dogs are friendly and must clean up after their pets.

Packets can be picked up on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Cumming Petco. Race day packet pickup and registration will begin at 7 a.m., and the race will kick off at 8 a.m.

The top male and female finishers and the 3 best runners in each age group will be given custom awards. The age groups range from 10 and under to 65 and older and are segregated in five-year increments. All runners are automatically eligible to participate in the Five Star Turkey Trot.

All money raised by the Dog Jog will go to the Humane Society of Forysth County’s Humane Hearts Therapy Program, which helps raise and train therapy dogs to provide comfort to young readers, the elderly, and schoolchildren.
