Driver Dies After Dump Truck Overturns On Atlanta Highway
A 62-year-old man died Friday, April 26 after the dump truck he was driving overturned on Atlanta Highway.
FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — A man from the Forsyth County portion of Gainesville was pronounced dead Friday after the dump truck he was driving overturned.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department responded to Atlanta Highway (Ga. 9) near Glover Drive in south Forsyth County regarding a single vehicle crash around 3:13 p.m. on April 26.
The investigation at this point has determined that a 2006 Mack dump truck, driven by
James Carl Barnes, 62, of Gainesville in Forsyth County, was traveling north on Atlanta Highway near Glover Drive. The dump truck went off the right side of the roadway, then traveled left going back across the roadway before coming to a rest on its passenger side in a ditch.

According to Deputy 1st Class Matt Kirk, Traffic Investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Barnes was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit.
