John David Keith Charity Golf Tournament at Polo Golf & Country Club

On Monday, August 29, friends, family, and complete strangers will gather together to pay tribute to Cumming resident John David Keith with a Charity Golf Tournament at Polo Golf & Country Club.

In 2008, the former golf instructor was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) - a progressive and degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal column. Also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, ALS robs its victims of the ability to perform even the simplest of tasks that many of us take for granted, and often drains the victim's family of virtually all of their resources. This event will benefit the John David Keith Medical Relief Fund in order to help defray the cost of much-needed medical supplies and caregivers for John David.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. tee-off. The format of play is a four-person scramble, and the cost to participate is $90 per player—which in addition to going to a very good cause, includes green fees, cart, and range balls. At 2 p.m., John David will make a brief appearance, thanks to the generous donation of services from Advanced Ambulance Service, Inc. It just so happens that this very special event coincides with John David's 44th birthday, and we hope you can help us celebrate this extremely brave young man.
