Sons of the Confederate Veterans Camp 1642 May Meeting

Our speaker this month is Bruce H. Stewart, the author of Invisible Hero; Patrick R. Cleburne, published in 2009 by Mercer University Press.  A graduate of Duke University, Bruce served on the Board of the Atlanta Civil War Roundtable from 2005 to 2009 and as the group’s president in 2010.  He is on the Board of Trustees at Oakland Cemetery, and frequently gives Civil War tours at this Atlanta landmark. Bruce Stewart is an authority on the Atlanta Campaign and he will be giving his evaluation of President Jefferson Davis’ critical decision to relieve General Joseph Johnston from command of the Army of Tennessee in favor of General John Bell Hood in the summer of 1864.  The public is welcome to come and hear this insightful presentation.
