FBI Shoots Suspect in Pharmacy Robberies, Three Officers Injured

The armed suspect was thought to be targeting a Cumming CVS on Saturday morning, according to Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

FBI agents have shot a man in Cumming suspected in 32 pharmacy robberies just prior to what was believed to be his next attempted heist Saturday morning, according to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Three law enforcement officers, members of an FBI Task Force, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection of Windermere Parkway and Old Atlanta Road was closed for most of Saturday and reopened near 5 p.m.

The suspect was identified as Kelvone Charleston, 36, of Austell, according to CBS 46. The task force had been tracking him for almost a year.

The task force had been investigating the subject and observed he was armed with a firearm, and believed he was about to commit another robbery at the CVS at Windermere Parkway, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The suspect was involved in a crash with two FBI Task Force vehicles and shot several times,” according to a statement on the FCSO Facebook page. He was taken to the hospital and is in custody.

The task force SUV involved in the crash rolled onto its side, according to 11Alive, which also has photos and video from the scene.
