Here are the top stories in Cumming today:
- Any business and industry professionals out there? Well, Forsyth County Schools is looking for business leaders to share their personal and professional stories to area students at the Career Exploration and Pathway Discovery Oct. 11 and 12 at the Forsyth Conference Center. Students will have the opportunity to ask what education and experience is required in order to enter certain industries they're interested in exploring. (Forsyth County Chamber)
- In a unanimous 5-0 vote last Friday, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners denied Atlanta Cricket Fields' zoning request to add one more field on the property's 7.3 acres on Keith Bridge Road. The main purpose of the field would have been a place for players to train and practice cricket, but nearby residents voiced their concern over the property's expansion. (Forsyth County News)
- A school-based health center is on its way to Cumming Elementary. Forsyth County Schools is partnering with Georgia Highlands Medical Services, a private nonprofit community health center founded in 1979, to provide on-site medical and mental health services for students and staff, particularly those that do not have a primary care physician. The aim is to promote health and academic success. While an opening date has not yet been set, Cumming Elementary was chosen because of its location and Title I status. (Appen Media).
