Field Family Trust Golf Classic Comes to Cumming
The proceeds will go towards defraying the medical bills of a man who has been paralyzed for over 20 years.
CORRECTION: It was originally and erroneously reported that Michael Field was paralyzed in a driving accident, when he was in fact paralyzed in a diving accident.
The Polo Golf & Country Club in Cumming will play host to the 2014 Field Family Trust Golf Classic on Aug. 11, an event which raises money for Michael Field, a man who was paralyzed in a driving accident in 1992.
The classic’s format is a modified handicap scramble, with a shotgun start at noon. Players will start their approaches from the location of the best drive, and the two best scores per hole will be counted. The maximum handicap for the classic is 18.

First prize for the classic is a set of Titleist irons. The second place winner gets a FootJoy shirt, and third prize is a pair of FootJoy golf shoes. There are also prizes for the two longest drives, and the two golfers who get their shots closest to the pin.
Registration for the classic runs until Aug. 8, and costs $150 for green fees, a cart, range balls, and a box lunch and a meal following the event. To register online, please follow this link and include an extra $5 for PayPal fees.
