Filing Opens Tuesday for Cumming Special Election

Successful candidate will replace retiring Rupert Sexton.

Qualifying begins Tuesday for the special election to replace retiring Cumming City Councilman Rupert Sexton.

Candidates will have until May 14 to register with the city clerk and pay the $180 qualifying fee.

The special election will be held June 16 at City Hall. Residents can register to vote until May 18.

The winning candidate will serve through 2017. Sexton announced his retirement in April.
