Five Forsyth County Schools Receive Academic Awards

Three elementary and two middle schools have been recognized by the Forsyth County school system for Title I academic achievement.

Five Forsyth County schools have received Title I academic achievement awards: Chestatee Elementary, Cumming Elementary, Little Mill Middle, Midway Elementary and Otwell Middle.

"The Title I schools in our system are very committed to providing an engaging and high quality instructional program for all students at their school," said Brenda Schulz, Director of Academic Support.

To be eligible for this award, schools must be a Title I school that has met adequate yearly progress (AYP) for at least two years.

Schools that have met AYP for at least three years will receive a certificate and a monetary award is given to schools that have met AYP for 10 consecutive years or more. 

has made AYP for 10 consecutive years and has been a Title I Distinguished School for eight years. The school will receive a monetary award of $1,530.

has made AYP for nine consecutive years and has been a Title I Distinguished School for seven years.

has made AYP for eight consecutive years and has been a Title I Distinguished School for six years.

has made AYP for five consecutive years and this is their third year as a Title I Distinguished School.

has made AYP for four consecutive years. This is their second year as a Title I Distinguished School. 

"Because they are so dedicated to the students and their parents, it is no surprise that they are among the most successful and effective schools in our state. We are very excited to see these schools recognized for their hard work," Schulz said.
