'Flies On Cooked Chicken': Cumming Restaurant Fails Inspection
The Indian eatery scored an amazingly low 36/U on its health inspection conducted Tuesday.

CUMMING, GA — An Indian restaurant in Cumming earned a shockingly low failing score on its health inspection Tuesday, with the problems inspectors found including flies on cooked chicken and other food.
Bawarchi Biryanis, at 1614 Peachtree Pkwy., scored a 36/U on the inspection. Any score of 70 or below is considered unsatisfactory.
According to the report, "numerous" flies were spotted on cooked chicken and other food in the restaurant. An employee came in from outside and began prepping food without washing hands and vegetables were being removed from their containers and prepared without being washed.

And employee touched rice that was supposed to be served with bare hands, bags of chicken and goat were found that didn't have USDA labels, there were no paper towels at a hand sink and raw chicken was being stored next to ready-to-eat tofu in a cooler.
Numerous containers of food were not covered, clean dishes were being stored on the ground, dining tables were not being properly sanitized and the entire kitchen floor was "soiled with accumulation of food debris and trash," the report said.

The person in charge was found to not be properly trained in food safety and the restaurant's health report was not publicly displayed.
The score is a steep drop for the restaurant, which had earned a 100/A on its last health inspection in May.
According to state policy, inspectors will return to the restaurant within the next 10 days. If the problem's noted on Tuesday's inspection report are not fixed, they could shut down the restaurant until they are addressed.
