Forsyth Chamber's Former IT Pro Arrested For Cybercrimes Against Group
James Kubicek blocked the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber from accessing its own info, then deleted years worth of data, authorities say.

CUMMING, GA β A former information technology professional for the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber of Commerce has been arrested on charges he committed cybercrimes against the group after his contract was not renewed.
James Darian Kubicek, 48, of Cumming, has been charged with theft by extortion, computer theft and computer trespass, all felonies, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
His company, Kubicek Information Technologies, provided IT management services for the chamber in 2016.

After the contract expired in December, the sheriff's office said, the chamber chose to hire another company for 2017.
Unwilling to accept that decision, Kubicek "took action to prevent the chamber from accessing any of their own data systems and made threats to delete the data he was holding unless the chamber reinstated him as their IT service provider," said sheriff's office spokesman Cpl. Peter Sabella.

When the chamber didn't comply, Kubicek followed through with his threats and deleted "many years' worth of critical and irreplaceable data," Sabella said.
After an investigation, criminal arrest warrants were obtained for Kubicek. He was taken into custody without incident Thursday and has bonded out of Forsyth County Jail on a $13,550 bond.
