Forsyth Commission Declares 'Suicide Prevention Month'
Twenty-two people in Forsyth County have died due to suicide this year, county officials say.

CUMMING, GA — Twenty-two people in Forsyth County have died due to suicide so far this year, according to the county coroner's office.
The Forsyth County Commission has proclaimed September to be Suicide Prevention Month in the county. According to the commission, suicide is the 10th-leading cause of death in the United States and the second-leading cause among people between ages 10-34.
The first in a series of suicide-prevention events will be held Sept. 20 at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College.

Anyone having thoughts of suicide or self-harm may contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or visit the group's website. The lifeline provides free, confidential counseling and support.
