Forsyth County Government: Forsyth County Asks For Public Input To Update Comprehensive Plan

The process of updating the plan, known as Foster Forsyth 2022, is a 12-month planning effort that will culminate in a partial update to the County’s Comprehensive Plan. The process began with a public hearing held during the Oct. 21 Board of Commissioners meeting, which served to communicate the commencement of the process and outline the community engagement schedule. “Foster Forsyth establishes a vision for future growth and development in our county, guides land use decisions and helps inform other investments related to growth and development,” said Planning & Community Development Deputy Director Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman. “Community engagement and input is needed during this process to help map the desired intensity and distribution of future growth in Forsyth County.” Foster Forsyth 2022 will include three rounds of community input via in-person and online activities. For each round of meetings, two in-person meetings will be followed by a live virtual meeting and an online feedback period. The planning process will be guided by a Steering Committee of seven members. Additionally, a series of community leader interviews will be conducted in October and November 2021. The current Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in July 2017 may be found by visiting forsythco.com. Georgia requires communities to update their comprehensive plans every five years, including a reevaluation of needs and opportunities, preferred options for future land use as well as action steps to achieve community goals.
