CUMMING, GA —Forsyth County officials last week began the process of updating the county's comprehensive plan, which is required every five years by the state of Georgia, county officials said.

The plan is designed to include information like: reevaluation of needs and opportunities, preferred options for future land use and action steps to achieve community goals.

"Foster Forsyth establishes a vision for future growth and development in our county, guides land use decisions and helps inform other investments related to growth and development," said Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman, the deputy director of Planning & Community Development for Forsyth County. "Community engagement and input is needed during this process to help map the desired intensity and distribution of future growth in Forsyth County."

The process of updating the comprehensive plan began with a public hearing held during the Oct. 21 Forsyth County Board of Commissioners meeting, where the plan's community-engagement schedule was communicated.
