Forsyth County Transportation: Make Your Voice Heard
The county is updating its comprehensive transportation plan and is soliciting public input to help make future decisions.

CUMMING, GA — If you'd like to make your voice heard in how Forsyth County handles traffic in the future, now is your chance.
The county is updating its comprehensive transportation plan, a document that outlines its long-range vision for transportation within the county.
The plan will take a close look at the transportation needs of people who live, work and play in Forsyth and will result in projects to address motorist, freight, bicycle and pedestrian needs.

Community involvement is key in making sure the plan represents the desires of the public, county leaders say.
Residents, business owners, service organizations and other stakeholders will have several ways to take part in the process, both in person and online.

Public meetings and workshops, pop-ups at local events and focus groups will be held as the process moves forward. A project website will serve as the online hub for project information such as key milestones, public meeting announcements and draft documents.
The website also will be used to solicit input through an online survey.
A Stakeholder Advisory Committee will be convened to provide an additional level of input into the desires and concerns of the community.
A consultant team led by Jacobs Engineering has been selected to lead the effort in close coordination with the Forsyth County Department of Engineering.
Public input combined with the technical expertise of Forsyth County staff and the consultant team will result in a list of transportation projects as well as policy recommendations for consideration and adoption by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, which is expected to act in December 2017.
This effort is funded in part by the Atlanta Regional Commission, the agency tasked with planning for the future of transportation for the entire metro Atlanta region.
Counties are required to update transportation plans every five years. For more information on the Forsyth Transportation Plan, contact Michael Kray at (404) 978-7620 or by email at michael.kray@jacobs.com.
