Forsyth Deputy Plays Santa For Needy Kids

Deputy Brandon Lin has made an annual tradition of raising money and buying gifts for kids he knows need help.

CUMMING, GA — Being a sheriff's deputy means every story you know isn't necessarily a happy one. At Christmas time, one Forsyth County deputy does his best to change that.

For the past two years, Deputy Brandon Lin has spent weeks around Christmas raising money and buying gifts for kids in need of a little something extra around the holidays.

Other deputies, family and friends help Lin out by buying gifts and donating money to him, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

Lin says he focuses on children who he knows, for one reason or another, wouldn't have much under the tree otherwise.

"After he heard the different reasons why he set out to make sure they could have something special to open Christmas Day," the sheriff's office said in the post. "The Sheriff's Office is proud to have Deputy Lin. Thank you for all you do and keep up the good work."
