Forsyth Honors Fallen Officers With Road Naming
Two sheriff's deputies and two firefighters have been memorialized for their service.

CUMMING, GA -- Forsyth County has honored four officers who fell in the line of duty, memorializing them with the renaming of four roads.
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recently approved the new names in honor of two sheriff's deputies and two firefighters who died in the line of duty.
At a ceremony April 14, two of those roads were officially dedicated.

Sections of North Old Atlanta Road have now been named in honor of Deputy Bill Cantrell and Reserve Deputy Larry Mulkey, who were shot and killed in 1972 after being abducted during a traffic stop.
Plans are being made for a ceremony to officially rename roads and honor the firefighters -- Allyn Lane and Dennis C. Martin.

Both men died in automobile accidents en route to their respective fire stations to respond to calls -- Lane in 1975 and Martin in 1984.
A resolution approved by commissioners states that "every citizen of Forsyth County owes a debt of gratitude to the courageous men and women who fell while in service to this county and the Board of Commissioners sees fit to honor these individuals."
