Forsyth Lawmaker Won't Seek Re-Election

State Rep. Mike Dudgeon says his business is taking up more time, making legislative service difficult.

CUMMING, GA -- Forsyth County’s most senior state lawmaker says the current Georgia legislative session will be his last.

Rep. Mike Dudgeon, R-Johns Creek, announced Monday that he will not seek re-election.

“I really hate to leave the Georgia House, but the reality is that my business commitments no longer give me enough time to serve,” Dudgeon wrote in an email received by the Forsyth County News.

Dudgeon’s district includes parts of Forsyth and Fulton counties.

He is the chief technology officer of Hi-Rez Studios, a video game development company in Alpharetta.

A Georgia Tech graduate, Dudgeon was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2010. Before that, he served on the Forsyth County Board of Education from 2007 to 2010.

He currently serves as vice-chairman of the house Education committee and secretary of the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications committee, as well as being a member of the powerful Appropriations committee.
