Forsyth Man Receives New Kidney from Anonymous Donor

Andrew Persuad is recovering from the surgery and regaining his strength after spending months on dialysis.

A Forsyth County man has a new lease on life after receiving a new kidney from an anonymous organ donor, WSB-TV reports.

Andrew Persuad had transplant surgery at the Piedmont Transplant Institute last week, the station reports; before the procedure, Persuad had been forced to undergo kidney dialysis three times a week for four hours each session. The dialysis kept Persuad alive, but drained his body and spirit. He is now slowly recovering both.

Persuad hopped on the internet to inform potential donors of his situation in February, but had to wait seven difficult months before a donor organ became available.
