Forsyth Officials: Ambulance Service Switch Went Smoothly
The first call for the new contractor was at a McDonald's on Canton Highway.

CUMMING, GA -- Forsyth County officials say the sudden switch to a new ambulance service on Thursday went smoothly.
Just one day earlier, the county commission had approved a new contract after its previous ambulance-services provider announced it may have to shut down operations.
Central Emergency Medical Service, of Roswell, holds the new contract.

“The Central EMS units are out running calls, and everything is working the way it should,” fire Chief Jason Shivers told the Forsyth County News on Thursday.
The day’s first call came at about 10:15 a.m. at a McDonald’s on Canton Highway and Bethelview Road.

Shivers told the News that Central will be using its own ambulances until the county-marked red and white units Advanced Ambulance had been using are transferred. Central bought those ambulances from Advanced.
Advanced had informed the county this week that it may no longer be able to provide ambulance services because of financial difficulties that were worsened by a search warrant executed at its offices and the company owner’s home.
County authorities have declined to say what the search warrant was about.
