Forsyth Schools Among Best SAT Scores In GA

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Forsyth County Schools’ students have earned the highest SAT in Georgia among county, large and metro Atlanta public school districts. At an overall score of 1162, Forsyth Schools also surpassed the state score of 1048 and the national score of 1039. Only one public school district in Georgia, Decatur City Schools, had a higher overall score. However, with testing 275 students, the district had fewer test-takers than each of Forsyth Schools' five high schools.

“We continue to be extremely proud of the hard work of our students and staff,” Forsyth Superintendent Jeff Bearden said. “Our mission is to prepare and inspire all learners to lead and succeed. Our schools and district cannot do this without the support of our families and the community.”

Forsyth Schools had the top math mean score in the state with 577 and the fifth-best evidence-based reading and writing mean score with 585. Likewise, Forsyth Schools increased the number of overall test-takers by 215 and two Forsyth County high schools increased SAT scores from 2018 to 2019.

The district’s five high school scores were also above state and national scores. These schools were among the top 50 out of 490 high schools in the state with the highest scores:

• No. 10 Lambert
• No. 17 South Forsyth
• No. 38 West Forsyth
• No. 47 Forsyth Central
• No. 48 North Forsyth

According to the Georgia Department of Education, two years ago, the 2017 SAT results set a new baseline for year-to-year comparisons. Reports before 2017 were based on the old SAT, which had a different score scale and different benchmarks. 2017, 2018, and 2019 SAT scores are comparable
