Forsyth Schools Cancel Monday Classes

CUMMING, GA — Forsyth County Schools will be closed Monday, school officials announced Sunday evening.

According to a social media post, Monday will be considered an online learning day. Elementary schools will be on the "A" schedule, while middle schools and high schools will be on a normal schedule.

Like much of north Georgia, Forsyth was still experiencing significant icy conditions on roadways Sunday evening.

Earlier Sunday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office reported multiple roads that were still considered unsafe.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Cumming on Sunday evening remained below freezing, at 28 degrees around 6:30 p.m.

The low Sunday night was expected to dip down to 21 degrees and the forecast high for Monday was only 37 degrees.
