Forsyth Schools Named Most Cost-Efficient in Georgia

Forsyth County was the only system to earn the state Department of Education's highest Financial Efficiency Star rating.

CUMMING, GA -- Forsyth County schools were the only system in Georgia to earn the state Department of Education's top ranking for financial efficiency.

As the Forsyth County News reports, Forsyth schools got top marks on Georgia's Financial Efficiency Star rating.

The ratings rank how well schools do at spending less on instruction while still getting good results from students.

"Our finance department, central office staff and school leaders do an outstanding job managing the funds entrusted to us by the tax payers of Forsyth County," Forsyth County Schools Superintendent Jeff Bearden said to the paper. "We have the lowest millage rate and the lowest per-pupil expenditures in metro Atlanta and are achieving at the highest rates in the history of our district."

The rating is based on a three-year average of the district’s College and Career Ready Performance Index, or CCRPI, score and the system's three-year average per-pupil expenditure.

Forsyth County’s 2015 CCRPI score of 91.8 was the highest in the state.

That year, the district spent about $7,597 per full-time student, the lowest among the 12 largest districts in the state.

Fall enrollment in Forsyth County schools was 42,693.
