Forsyth Sheriff's Office Brings "Beer Goggles" to Middle School
The demonstration at Riverwatch Middle School was designed to show the effects of alcohol intoxication and discourage future drunk driving.

Students at a Forsyth County middle school got to experience drunkenness first hand, thanks to the efforts of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies visited Riverwatch Middle School and challenged students to complete field sobriety tests while wearing a pair of “beer goggles.” Beer goggles, also called impairment goggles, use special lenses to provide an accurate simulation of alcohol intoxication and are used by law enforcement agencies to teach people about the dangers of drunk driving.
After the beer goggle demonstration, deputies and students discussed reasons why people should avoid getting into a car with a drunk driver behind the wheel.
