The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming a new deputy to the force who can sniff out trouble-and explosives-far better than your average human.

Edd, an 18-month-old Labrador Retriever, has been trained to detect explosives, firearms, and ammunition by sense of smell, the Sheriff’s Office said. Edd can assist his human colleagues by examining suspicious packages without the need for another officer to risk his or her life to open it.
