Forsyth's Derrer Received Liberty Bell Award

The award goes from members of the legal community to non-lawyers whose work has strengthened the community.

CUMMING, GA — Retired Forsyth County Manager Doug Derrer has received the Liberty Bell Award for his service to the community.

The Liberty Bell Award is the highest honor bestowed by lawyers on a non-attorney. Derrer, who had been unable to attend a May 10 Law Day event, received the award Monday from Judge Jeffrey Bagley.

"It is a great honor to be selected for this award," Derrer said. "As you know, the Liberty Bell Award recognizes a non-lawyer who has impacted the legal community in a significant and meaningful way.
