Fourth of July Weekend Forecast in Cumming

The threat of afternoon and evening showers marches on, regardless of holiday plans, according to the National Weather Service.

There’s a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night, when Cumming Fairgrounds will be shooting off fireworks for the city’s annual event.

Chances drop slightly on the Fourth of July, but wet weather can’t be ruled out.

• Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
• Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
• Independence Day: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82.
• Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67.
