GA State Trooper Charged With Child Molestation, Battery: GBI

A Georgia State Trooper from Cumming was charged with child molestation and sexual battery on Tuesday, police say.

CUMMING, GA — A Georgia State Trooper was arrested and charged Tuesday for sexual crimes against children, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said.

Brian Sanchez, 24, from Forsyth County, was charged with child molestation and two counts of sexual battery, one a felony and the other a misdemeanor, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) said he was fired as a result of the charges, the AJC reported. He had worked for the department since November 2017.

The Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate Sanchez on Sept. 4 after allegations emerged in Cumming, the AJC said.

Sanchez turned himself in at the Forsyth County jail, officials said.
