The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting early Friday morning when a suspect shot at a Forsyth County deputy.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting that occurred Friday morning in Forsyth County.

The Forsyth Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that the shooting occurred on Browns Bridge Road around 3:20 a.m. Friday.

The shooting took place during the pursuit of a domestic/stalking suspect, the department said. No deputies were injured.

Forsyth County Public Information Officer Deputy Doug Rainwater said there was a domestic 911 call from the man's ex-wife, who has a restraining order against the man.

Once deputies arrived at the home, the man then fled. Deputies lost sight of the car until he was seen off Browns Bridge Road. Deputies deployed a stop maneuver, and then the suspect got out and reportedly pointed a gun at the deputies.

"A protective order was already issued so this whole call then became aggravated stalking," Rainwater said. "Once we deflated his tires during the chase and he came to a stop, he got out with a gun. Our deputy fired one shot, hitting the suspect."

The suspect did not fire his own gun. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and his condition is unknown.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked by the Sheriff's Office to investigate. Public Information Officer Nelly Miles said this is the 70th officer involved shooting the department has been asked to look into this year.

Browns Bridge Road was closed from Six Mile Bridge to Georgia Ingram for about an hour until 7 a.m.
