Georgia Coach Arrested For Sex Assault Of Student

The Hall County basketball coach had "unwanted sexual contact" with an underage female student, according to investigators.

GAINESVILLE, GA — A Georgia high school basketball coach has been arrested for the sexual assault of a female student at his school.

Webster Demetrius Daniel, 42, was arrested Tuesday in Hall County and charged with sexual assault against a student and sexual battery. Daniel was coach of the Chestatee High School girls basketball team. He was suspended by the school last week.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Daniel on last Thursday engaged "in unwanted sexual contact with a juvenile female" who was a student at the school. Detectives opened an investigation after being notified by school officials the same day.

Daniel was arrested without incident at a home in Oakwood, in Hall County. He was booked at Hall County Jail and the case remains under investigation, the sheriff's office said.

Daniel, who school officials say has submitted his resignation as a teacher, was suspended on Friday.
