  4. Amid a string of North Georgia Conference United Methodist congregations disaffiliating and becoming independent churches, Cumming First UMC has no intention of severing its ties with the larger United Methodist Church. According to John Hutchinson, interim director of communications at Cumming First, the 2,500-member congregation will remain a part of UMC, as this is "not a decision churches can make lightly." Many of the more progressive disaffiliating churches have done so because of UMC's stance on LGBTQ+ marriage and clergy ordination. Hutchinson says Cumming First will continue to follow UMC's guidance on this issue while still striving "earnestly to welcome all people ... regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, physical, mental, emotional ability," etc. (Appen Media)
  5. On Monday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office welcomed SO Communications Officer Claudia Berry to the team. They also welcomed back Deputy Sheriff First Class Howard Corrigan to duty. The FCSO family is excited to have them back. (Forsyth County Sheriff's Office)
