Must See: Officers' Fiery Rescue Caught on Dashcam

As flames grew, officers put a stranger's life ahead of their own, says Villa Rica Police Chief.

A dramatic rescue by Villa Rica Police officers is going viral on Facebook, viewed more than 33,000 times in just two days.

Corporal Meredith Ivey was the first on the scene at 1:40 a.m. Monday. A car had run off the side of the road and was engulfed in flames. Ivey found the driver was still inside the car and unresponsive.

The video begins as Officers Spencer Crawford and Micahiah Swain are seen arriving on the scene and running toward the flames.

The three officers worked together to remove the driver. In the video, their silhouettes are barely visible in the flames as they work to remove the driver from the car.

You finally see them dragging the driver away from the car as the flames grow. Once a safe distance from the car, the officers administered first aid.

The driver was flown by helicopter to an Atlanta area hospital. Information on the his condition wasn’t released.

“We could not be more proud of these officers. They never hesitated to run towards danger in order to save the driver’s life,” said Chief Michael Mansour. “Corporal Ivey, Officer Crawford, and Officer Swain put a stranger’s life ahead of their own and performed their duties above anything that could be expected.”
