Halcyon Opens Big Creek Greenway Extension
When future phases are complete, the Greenway will span approximately 15 miles in Forsyth County and ultimately join to additional trails.

CUMMING, GA — The completion of the Big Creek Greenway extension at Halcyon officially opened on Dec. 11. The approximately 1.5-mile trail extension now allows people to access the $370-million, 135-acre mixed-use development via the multi-use trail in Forsyth County.
“Since our initial conversations about Halcyon, the Big Creek Greenway has remained a focal point in our vision for developing a modern gathering place for all ages in Forsyth County,” said RocaPoint Partners Principal Phil Mays. “Extending the Big Creek Greenway and establishing improved trail access at Halcyon was one of the first promises we made to the local community, and we are grateful for the continued support of local leaders in the creation of this key amenity.”
The Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County is a 12-foot wide concrete and boardwalk path meandering through the deciduous woods along the Big Creek. Spanning from Ronald Reagan Boulevard to Kelly Mill Road, the trail offers a peaceful setting for walking, jogging, biking and inline skating in nature. When future phases are complete, the Greenway will span approximately 15 miles in Forsyth County and ultimately join to additional trail segments in neighboring Roswell and Alpharetta communities.

“Halcyon’s trail connection is a true differentiator for the development, as proven by the high demand from people and companies who want to live, work, play and stay here,” said Forsyth County District 2 Commissioner, Dennis T. Brown. “RocaPoint Partners has already exceeded expectations in their delivery of Halcyon, and their dedication to our Greenway helps ensure Forsyth County is successfully positioned for smart growth in the years to come.”

“Halcyon’s investment in our Greenway supports Forsyth County’s mission to enhance the quality of life for all residents by providing recreational spaces that are safe, accessible and beautiful,” said Jim Pryor, director of Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department. “We hope the improved trail encourages more local residents and guests alike to enjoy easier access to nature, whether going on a bike ride, taking a quick jog on a lunch break or walking the dog after work.”
The debut of the extended trail consummates Halcyon’s momentous, inaugural Fall season, including the first 25 openings of restaurants, retailers, entertainment offerings and service providers since September. The mixed-use village has also recently welcomed two office tenants, Totem Solutions and JLL Retail’s North American headquarters, as well as announced WeWork, RSM and CMAC will occupy office space in the 1200 Building. Once Halcyon’s additional phases are complete, the total 1.8-million-square-foot project will include 300,000 square feet of Class-A office space, 260,000 square feet of retail space and a combination of 665 single-family and multifamily residences.
Public access to the Big Creek Greenway is open daily at 6265 Cortland Walk.
