Homestead Exemption Application Deadline Is April 1 In Forsyth

Forsyth homeowners must have been listed on the deed and have lived in the home as their primary residence as of January 1 of this year.

CUMMING, GA — The Forsyth County Tax Assessors Office reminds residents about the approaching deadline to file for homestead exemptions, as well as the age 65 school tax exemption for this tax year.

Residential property owners in Forsyth County that reside on that property and are a legal resident of the County, all as of Jan. 1 of the tax year, qualify for homestead exemption. Applications for exemptions can be filed year-round but must be sent in by Friday, April 1, to receive the benefits for 2022.

Regular and floating homestead exemption applications as well as applications for the age 65 school tax exemption are now available for online submission through the online Smartfile Tax Exemption Application tool located on the county’s website.
