Humpus Bumpus Books In Cumming Is Closing

The book store on Atlanta Avenue has been a fixture in Cumming for 30 years.

CUMMING, GA — Humpus Bumpus Books, a fixture in downtown Cumming for three decades, will soon be closing its doors.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the store, at 703 Atlanta Rd., announced it will be closing so its owner, Paul Cossman, can retire.

"Humpus Bumpus has been part of the soul of our community," the post reads. "There will surely be plenty of tears before it's all through. All of us here thank you for your loyal support of the last thirty years."

Housed in an old brick house with fireplaces and hardwood floors, Humpus Bumpus is a general-interest bookstore, selling new and used books, with a separate room for rare titles.

On Facebook, customers of the local fixture mourned the news of its closing.

"This community will greatly miss your charming book store and the people that served in it!" one follower wrote.

The store will remain open through August 30. Until then, all merchandise in the store is 50 percent off (with the exception of books by local authors).
