ICYMI: Breakfast Restaurant in Cumming Fails Health Inspection

CUMMING, GA — A popular breakfast spot in Cumming failed its health inspection last week, with inspectors citing mildew on drink machines and other problems

That Biscuit Place, at 5110 Chattahoochee Industrial Parkway, earned a 57/U on the December 13 inspection.
Among the problems cited by inspectors was "a mildew-like substance" on soda machine nozzles and food being stored in freezers uncovered.

Several food items were being stored at temperatures that were either too warm or too cool and some employees preparing food did not have their hair properly restrained, the inspection report said.

A vegetable sink had dirty containers stacked in it, a pair of tongs was found lying on top of fried okra and employees' drinks, along with some money, were found being stored on top of food contact surfaces.

The restaurant will get a chance to redeem itself. Under Georgia law, inspectors will return in the next 10 days to check on the restaurant again.

This most recent score was a departure for That Biscuit Place. Since 2014, the restaurant had never earned lower than a "B" grade and on its most recent inspection, in July, it had earned a 91/A.
