In Memoriam: John Francis Morton, 81
Morton, who lived in Cumming, was a graduate of East Tennessee State College, the owner of Morton's Grocery and retired from Tenneva Foods.

John Francis Morton, 81, of Cumming, went to be with his Heavenly Father May 13, 2013.
Johnny lived most of his life in Bristol, TN, where he was a long-time member of Central Christian Church. A graduate of East Tennessee State College, he was the owner of Morton's Grocery and retired from Tenneva Foods.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Spradlyn Morton; children Susan Leonard, John Morton, and Sarah LaPlaca; grandchildren Corey Leonard, J.R. Morton, Daniel Morton, and Christina LaPlaca; and sons-in-law Mark Leonard, Chris LaPlaca and daughter-in-law Donna Morton.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 17, at 3 p.m. at Cumming First United Methodist Church, 770 Canton Highway, in Cumming, where Johnny was a member. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3 p.m. the day of the service. Interment will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Betty Morton Scholarship to support Journalism Scholarships at Bristol Virginia High School; mailed to The Betty Morton “Scholarship Account”, c/o Suntrust Bank, 503 Lakeland Plaza, Cumming, GA 30040, account ending in 2434.
