Infant Bitten On Head, Killed By Family Dog In Hall County

An infant less than one-month-old was resting when the family husky dog bit it on the head. The baby later died at a Gainesville hospital.

GAINESVILLE, GA — An infant was killed Tuesday after it was bitten in the head by the family dog, which has been identified as a husky mix by police.

Hall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an incident shortly before 2 p.m. on July 9 on the 2900 block of Gillsville Highway.

The incident occurred inside the home, in a bedroom where the infant was resting, according to initial information gathered by deputies on the scene.

Hall County Fire Services units also responded, and the victim, an infant less than one-month- old, was transported by ambulance to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. The child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Hall County Animal Control and Enforcement also responded and took custody of the dog, which belonged to the family at the residence. Animal Control is in charge of the investigation and the release of any further information regarding the animal.

Hall County Sheriff’s investigators also responded and are conducting a death investigation. The investigation is in its early stages, but there are no charges at this time.

The name of the child is not currently being released, pending notification of family.
