Kindergarten Registration This Week, New Principals
The Forsyth County Board of Education approves two elementary school principals and kindergarten registration will be held this week for the 2011-2012 school year.
Just barely into the spring season, it’s time for many Forsyth County parents to be thinking about fall when it comes to their kindergarten age children.
Forsyth County Schools will be holding kindergarten registration for the 2011-2012 school year Wednesday, March 23, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday, March 24, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Registration is held for all parents/guardians with children that will be 5-years-old before September 1, 2011. Students are not required to be at registration, but certain documents are required.

Rebecca Johnson, who is currently the Principal at Chestatee Elementary, will become the new Principal at Shiloh Point Elementary, effective July 1, 2011.
Forsyth County Schools report that Ms. Johnson will be replacing Sharon Ericson, who will be retiring June 30. Johnson received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Auburn University, and her Leadership Endorsement from the University of Georgia. She has teaching experience in Alabama and Florida, and joined Forsyth County Schools in 2004. Since that time she has worked at Mashburn and Coal Mountain Elementary Schools.
Polly Tennies, is the Assistant Principal at Midway Elementary, however, beginning July 1, 2011 she will now be the Principal at Chestatee Elementary.
Ms. Tennies received her Bachelors Degree from Juniata College in Pennsylvania; she secured her Masters Degree from Loyola University in Maryland and her Leadership Certificate from the University of Georgia. She is also a National Board Certified teacher. Tennies has teaching experience in Maryland and Virginia, and joined Forsyth County Schools this year. She previously worked at Chestatee and Sawnee Elementary Schools.
