Labor Day 2017: What's Open, Closed In Forsyth County

CUMMING, GA — For most folks, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer. School is back in session and, every once in a while, a cooler-than-normal day around this time reminds us that fall really is on the way.

This year, Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4. Because Labor Day is a federal holiday, it means a day off work for a lot of people and no school for children. As such, many government and other services will be shut down for the day.

Here's a look at some of what will be open and what will be closed in Forsyth County on Labor Day:

• Forsyth County government offices will be closed.
• Forsyth County's animal shelter, recreation centers, senior services and recycling center will be closed.
• The Cumming Aquatic Center will be open 1-6 p.m.
• City of Cumming offices will be closed.
• Forsyth County Public Schools will be closed.
• U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed.
• Most banks will be closed.
• Most Kroger, Publix and other major grocery stores will be open.
• Most restaurants and other consumer-service businesses will be open, but it's worth calling ahead to make sure.
